if u have read my previous posts you would have known on an average only 50% of the votes are polled. of these regular voters u can use ur influence on a small % of people and make them vote to LP. plus u will get the people who will be willing to work for LP in this 50%.
now coming to the next 50 - the non-voters. these guys are mostly educated, high profile and wealthy. Educated guys have the attitude that their vote wont make a difference. even if they vote one of the political parties is going to win, and the rest are as usual. High profile (judges, doc's, enggr's) get their job done thru their contacts they don't take the trouble to go to a govt office to get their work done, so they neglect the elections. wealthy guys, they play with money to get their things done, so irrespective of who comes to power, their money will speak, thus they don't vote.
LP can win, if this 50% come to vote for them. These ppl are not influenced by political parties, they don't vote for money/briyani/thanni. for LP candidate it will be easy to canvas these people than the normal 50% who expect something or the other from the candidate.
Of ths 50% even if 30% come and votes for LP, LP's candidate will win with a handsome margin.
Guys ur educated theoretically, politician's are very practical. their knowledge abt the area and its people are immense. u can get the exact meaning of tactics only from a politician. use ur economics, and science to gather votes.
everything is possible!

ur vote - how much dose ur single vote matters
In tn, total population is arnd 6 crore. the 2 biggies dmk/admk have arnd 1 crore members each. normal voting percentage here is around 50% on a average. so in real sense only 1 crore people decide the elections.
when it comes to your constituency, the same rule applies in a smaller scale. to keep the numbers really low, lets take the ward elections. depending upon the size, a ward in Chennai has around 12k voters. of this 50% don't vote, so it is a matter of 6k votes. of this dmk and admk account for 2k vote each. this is their vote bank. so the actual deciders r 2000 people of whom u know at least 100 persons personally. which is 5% of the deciding voters. If u convince this 100 people u can make a candidate to win or loose the election.
when u live in a town u gain more power as the number of voters decrease but the number of people whom u know will remain constant.
so- do exercise ur vote, and ask people u know to vote. u can make a difference in a very personal manner to your area.

political parties and their cadress
I found a interesting aspect about about the so called party men of the political parties in TN.
i know a person in my area who will fight with you if u say something wrong about dmk. he'll argue with u till u give up. this person earns abt 3k per month. he lives in a slum nearby. his son, abt 12 years old has taken the brush in his hands already. worst part is he'll die one day in this same position, let it be 5 years or 15 years from this day.
if u r working for another party or person who is contesting elections against dmk, he wont support u. even if u give one thousand rupees per day for 10 days of campaign. he lives by his party.
in the same sense im working in a mnc, earn arnd 30k per month. Im looking for a better company to work for in the immediate future if i get a better pay packet.
y is this so, y they r so loyal to their parties, i couldn't find answers for these questions. yes he is illiterate, but after living for 45 years in the place he knows what is good and what is bad, still he is with his party.
these guys amuse me....

how much to spend for a election
as per SEC-state election commission, for the councilor election which was recently held, a candidate should not spend more than 35k!! every candidate would have elapsed this rule...
some simple facts::
one must have seen autos being used for the election campaign, per day details on that..
Auto + Driver rent - 350 to 500
petrol - 180
announcer's bata in auto - 200
food - 200
sound speaker rent - 400 to 700
------------------------
totals to - 1330 to 1780
for 10 days - 13k to 17k
some guys run more than one auto!!
Amount spent by each candidate runs into lakhs very easily, if he is part of dmk/admk then the budget seems to cross 10L.
2 people can raise this as an issue,
1st and the most unlikeliest - SEC
2nd media, these guys are colour blinded for many unknown reasons
Blogs help to an extent, but their reach is not sufficient, for example this blog!!
SOLUTION ?? everybody should exercise their vote compulsorily and choose a worthy person. Instead of depending one 2 unknown people to change our state of living, every one should do his part, one can start by casting his vote early in the morning!

election -- part 2
seems justice dept is the only one to keep our democracy afloat, but only to an extent though.
latest news is counting as been postponed for the chennai corporation, and SEC will analyze further into the issue! as a result number of booths for re-polling will be increased, but to what extent is again a question. lets wait and see...
