ur vote - how much dose ur single vote matters

In tn, total population is arnd 6 crore. the 2 biggies dmk/admk have arnd 1 crore members each. normal voting percentage here is around 50% on a average. so in real sense only 1 crore people decide the elections.

when it comes to your constituency, the same rule applies in a smaller scale. to keep the numbers really low, lets take the ward elections. depending upon the size, a ward in Chennai has around 12k voters. of this 50% don't vote, so it is a matter of 6k votes. of this dmk and admk account for 2k vote each. this is their vote bank. so the actual deciders r 2000 people of whom u know at least 100 persons personally. which is 5% of the deciding voters. If u convince this 100 people u can make a candidate to win or loose the election.

when u live in a town u gain more power as the number of voters decrease but the number of people whom u know will remain constant.

so- do exercise ur vote, and ask people u know to vote. u can make a difference in a very personal manner to your area.

I'm waiting for the day when we will be able to vote thru email! I hate being in the middle of the bad-ass-slum-shitters who completely blind about decency, who enjoy breaking ques and climb on your shoulders to get a an inch closer to the voting room. There are a FEW odd cases though.
